For a "casual" game, this was surprisingly long. And hard. Good pig killing fun though. Great for bite sized chunks of gaming on the go. And still a bit easier than the original Angry Birds thanks to the curves of gravity and such. Wonder will I ever be able to finish that one...

So very pretty. Amazing art direction like the previous Bioshocks. But unfortunately, like the previous Bioshocks, the art direction was probably it's greatest strength. Flying around on roller coasters is a lot of fun. And it's nice to have an escort partner who is actually useful for once. But...I do not think this is deserving of the massive hype and praise. Yes, it was very good. But not as amazing as all the reviews have been saying. Most of the mechanics, enemy types, weapons, etc very really just renamed carbon copies of those from Bioshock 1 and 2. And the salts are the plasmids. The story was interesting with a cool twist, but for over half of the game, it was just leading you on without telling you much so you spent a lot of it not knowing what the hell was going on. Definitely fun through and through and worth a play, especially if you played and/or liked the previous Bioshocks. But it did not live up to what I was expecting.

Seeing as there is no hard and fast way to "win" this game, I called it a win after getting the population of my city, Cork, to 1 million as this was the closest thing the original Simcity had to a "win" condition. Left this one by the wayside not long after getting it 14 years ago. All the recent commotion about the new Simcity made me want to play it again though. Doesn't feel terribly different to Simcity 2000 (although I may be remembering it more advanced than it actually was). Only big differences really are that you don't have to manually run power lines everywhere, there's a few new building types and more landmarks and such. The advisers help you out a lot more than they used to as well making it quite easy to know what helps your sims. One minor complaint though: it's music lacks the awesomeness of Simcity 2000's music. I found myself humming the Simcity 2000 music while playing this. Or just having it looping through my head. Apart from that minor quibble, definitely a worthy successor to the Simcity 2000 throne. I hear that Simcity 4 was the peak of the series but not having played it, cannot pass judgement. And the new one is obviously a lost cause... And yes, those are the World Trade Centre twin towers in Cork. Yes, right next to a military base. Yes, this game was made pre 911 so it is not distasteful.

Damn hard. Damn damn hard. But again not quite as hard as I was expecting from what everyone said... Very hard but oddly very rarely frustrating with the exception of a a few levels towards the end. Might be because of the short levels or the quick restarts. But despite the amazing difficulty, it was still a lot of fun to play and it always felt very satisfying when you did win. Another definite Humble Bundle win.

Interesting premise for a game. But easy to nerf most of the levels with a pulley system or just building up blocks. Reminded me a bit of Scribblenauts. Even though I haven't played that. A semi-win for Humble Bundle.

Interesting little game. Odd combination between RTS and tower defence. All reviews said it was very hard to understand and needed huge amounts of planning and tweaking but it was easy enough to steam roller the main missions with just a fleet of heavy cruisers with as much fire power and armour as affordable. I'm sure the expanded missions would require a lot more tweaking. A semi Humble Indie Bundle win. It was good, but not up to the quality of the rest of the games in their packs...

Damn screenshots didn't work. Might have been something to do with this starting life as an Adobe Flash game. Despite that, another awesome Humble Indie Bundle win. Quite hard. But nowhere near as hard as I was expecting from what most people claimed it to be. Nowhere near as long as I was expecting either. Mostly due to the ample checkpoints. But still loads of fun and love the retro C64 graphical style. Very very awesome.

So. Fucking. Hard. And very Russian too. Did not care for this one. A Humble Bundle failure.

Another bargainous game from the Humble Bundles. This time a curious geometry based rolling puzzle game where a kid finds a ball on a beach and then dreams about rolling the ball around the place through puzzles. Fun and challenging but never maddeningly difficult and short enough that it didn't get tiresom. Nice ambient art style too.

Interesting little puzzle/arcade game. Very fucking hard though. And slow-paced. One of the lesser entries in the Humble Bundle...

Excellent reboot of the series. I can only remember bits and pieces of the older games, but the most prevalent memory was the unbelievably clunky controls. No such issue in this new iteration. Feels a lot like Uncharted which is odd because Uncharted was made to be a lot like Tomb Raider but more cinematic. This isn't very cinematic but is a more harrowing tale of how Croft came to be such a hardened bad ass bitch. Beautiful visuals and good production values draw you in and make Lara want to kill all the bastards. Highly recommended.

Can't get enough God of War. Game mechanics and combat remain as amazing as ever. Although this one had no extra weapons, just "effects" for your blades. Most of which weren't of much use so your weapon selection felt quite limited. But there was also more combat options available. Visuals look even more gorgeous and epic as the games go along. However, there were one or 2 camera glitches in places that halted progress as well as a few other minor glitches here and there. Which is odd, because there have been 5 God of Wa games before it with nary a glitch, blemish or problem to see between all of them. And the plot felt a bit...inconsequential. Battling a few weird god servants is not on quite the same scale as murdering actual gods. And titans. But despite that, the 2nd half of the game definitely picked up the pace and ramped everything up to make a satisfying ending that leads into the first God of War.

But I can't help but feeling that too much time was put into the stupid waste of time (now seemingly mandatory for all games) multi-player mode. And this took focus away from and hurt the main campaign. Same as with Crysis 3. Seems to be an increasingly common problem. Multi-player must die. Give us back our single player games!

Another classic Gears installment. Same old awesome game mechanics as always, but the plot was pretty inconsequential this time round...felt like it didn't matter hugely and the new side characters are pretty forgettable. But the star performance per area system did give things a new twist. But I feel they broke the canon a few times with having enemies and guns and stuff show up that shouldn't have been there...

Classic Mass Effect action. Sadly, the last we will ever see. But it went out with a bang. Awesome to have the whole squad together at once (bar Zaeed who was dead, sadly). And especially awesome to have Wrex back in the team. An emotional ending. Probably even better than the actual ending. Because we all knew it was the real end. Goodbye Normandy crew. It's been one hell of a ride

Interesting little tower defense game...also bone-shatteringly hard. Particularly in the later levels. But simple enough so as not to get bogged down in the technicalities and just enjoy killing the titans. Love the retro graphics and music too. Played a bit of this for Steam badges in Christmas 2011. Only just now getting back to complete the main campaign. Yet another Humble Indie Bundle win. Might keep going with the titles from them...

An entire game based on sliding tile puzzles More fun than it sounds because it was mixed up a lot with gears (the best puzzles), dual sided tiles, pipes, balloons, combining varieties of these to make all sorts of machines and much more. Extremely hard once in the later levels, but still lots of brain-teasing fun. Another Humble Indie bundle win.
